Perfect Family Trip
Had an absolute great day of fishing with Captain James Weeks and my daughter of 14. We had perfect weather, warm and overcast with light wind. We caught our limit of Crappie and a few catfish as well as bass. We were on the fish early and back at the ramp by 11am, he cleaned our fish and helped load them up. Great fisherman and very family friendly. We will definitely be back and would recommend to everyone.

Perfect Lake Day

Clarks Hill Lake is absolutely loaded with both black and white crappie, and they're some of the most consistent fish you'll find here year-round. These panfish typically run 10-14 inches and pack into schools around submerged timber, brush piles, and creek channels in 8-20 feet of water. Spring spawning season from March through May is prime time when they move shallow, but don't overlook summer and fall fishing around deeper structure. What makes crappie so popular with my guests is their sweet, flaky white meat - honestly some of the best eating fish in the lake. They're also perfect for kids and beginners since they bite readily and don't require heavy tackle. Here's a local trick that works great on Clarks Hill: when you find one crappie, slow down and work that exact spot thoroughly. They school tight, so where there's one, there's usually a dozen more waiting.
